Public Satisfaction Reaches Record High at 80%, Solidifying President Jokowi’s Legitimacy

Jakarta – Deputy Chief of Staff for Information and Political Communication, Juri Ardiantoro, has emphasized that President Joko Widodo’s government has achieved an unprecedented level of public satisfaction, with a staggering 80 percent approval rating. This remarkable feat serves as undeniable evidence that President Jokowi’s legitimacy remains steadfast and unwavering.

“Remarkably, this exceptional accomplishment comes at a time when Indonesia, as a nation, grapples with an array of complex challenges, both on the global and local fronts,” said Juri Ardiantoro, in response to a survey conducted by the reputable Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI), in Jakarta on Thursday (4/5).

The LSI survey results reveal that the public’s satisfaction with President Jokowi’s performance stands at an impressive 82 percent. Within this figure, an overwhelming 12.3 percent of respondents expressed their utmost satisfaction with the President’s achievements.

Juri Ardiantoro identified four key areas where President Jokowi has excelled. Firstly, his ability to effectively tackle a wide range of issues and challenges, whether they originate from the global stage or within Indonesia itself. These issues encompass economic concerns, social welfare, healthcare, and law enforcement.

Secondly, President Jokowi has spearheaded infrastructure development and connectivity initiatives, prioritizing an Indonesia-centric approach. Notable projects include the construction of toll roads, maritime transportation routes, and various other critical infrastructure. These initiatives have stimulated the growth of new economic hubs, ultimately driving progress throughout the nation. Juri highlighted the ambitious endeavor of relocating the capital city as an exemplification of this vision.

The third factor contributing to the increased public satisfaction, as underscored by Juri, lies in President Jokowi’s personal profile and his remarkable track record of accomplishments. He is widely perceived as a leader capable of instilling hope in Indonesia’s future, reinforcing the notion that national progress is an inevitable reality.

Furthermore, President Jokowi is regarded as a skilled reconciliatory figure who has successfully maintained unity and harmony within Indonesia’s highly diverse society. Juri Ardiantoro applauded the President’s inclusive approach, which involves embracing political opponents and diligently resolving historical conflicts and errors.

According to the Deputy, President Jokowi’s monumental legacy has solidified his role as a foundational pillar for Indonesia’s future. Consequently, it is crucial for all segments of society to collectively commit to preserving and furthering this legacy in the years ahead.

“In light of this context, it is only natural for the President to request the commitment of the 2024 presidential candidates to continue strengthening the endeavors set forth by President Jokowi,” concluded Juri.

Identity Politics Threaten Indonesian Democracy

Jakarta – President Joko Widodo in his annual state of the nation address before the legislative branch of the government ahead of the celebration of the country’s independence on Aug. 17 said no more to identity politics, politicization of religion, and social polarization in the 2024 Election.

The concept of identity politics is almost similar to using religion for mobilizing voter support for political parties and their candidates. It has caused polarization and division among the voting public in past elections that further resulted in long-lasting tensions.

“Our democracy must mature. National consolidation must be strengthened,” said President Jokowi, during his state of the nation address, in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/8).

Deputy Chief of Staff for Information and Political Communication Juri Ardiantoro said that the President’s message was clear to criticize the recent political tribalism and fierce contestation. It leaves the nation in a perilous situation that divides the nation, even further damaging the foundations of the nation.

“Political competition should not justify any destructive means,” said Juri..

He added, the destructive identity politics and the religion-based rhetoric tribalism are latent dangers that we need to be aware of, especially ahead of major political events. It boosts social stereotypes over dissenting opinions that prolongs horizontal conflicts.

“Politicized identity and religion are often used as an easy formula to radicalize and mislead the public,” he said.

Juri went on to say that politics wrapped in religious dogma has always been a favorite commodity to be capitalized ahead of the upcoming election. Religion is always used as a justification for achieving political goals by peddling it into identity politics.

“To whom was the message given? To all parties, both the political elite and the general public. Political divisions in society are the result of the elites’ political behavior who are not aware of how dangerous the politicization of religion and identity politics is,” said Juri.

Nurturing Future Leaders, Chief of Staff Moeldoko Directly Supervises Presidential Staff School Program

Jakarta – Chief of Staff to the President Moeldoko made a visit to the selection process of the Presidential Staff School (SSP) conducted at the Krida Bhakti Building, Jakarta, Thursday (14/7), to directly oversee the interview stage of the highly anticipated youth program.

“This Presidential Staff School program is a space for young people to first-hand observe how officials and policy makers govern the nation. I supervise this program in person, ensuring its selection process to its enrollment being carried out accordingly,” said Moeldoko.

SSP, initiated by the Executive Office of the President (KSP), aims to look for aspiring young people aged 17 to 26 years old from Greater Jakarta areas to be involved in a six-day learning program. The selected participants will be given an opportunity to study under the KSP’s most prominent advisors, deputies and the Presidential Chief of Staff himself. Among many other things, the students will learn about the management of national priority programs and its debottlenecking efforts.

“Young people today have wide knowledge, partly thanks to advanced technology that allows them to learn from accessible sources. Unfortunately, most talented young people in the country have little to no experience. Thus, SSP will give them strategic, tactical, and practical work experience within the Presidential Palace complex,” said Moeldoko.

Seeing the high enthusiasm from registrants, the former TNI Commander believed that young people cared more about state affairs.

“Only within a few days of its registration phase, the application number had reached more than sixty thousand. It showcases that young people want to contribute and apply their knowledge for the sake of the country,” he said.

Moeldoko, who made a surprise visit to the site, also interviewed one of the candidates named Shania binti Mahir Hamdun who presented her ideas related to trauma healing efforts for children contracted by COVID-19.

The SSP’s registration phase was opened from June 16 to 29 with more than 69,000 young people from Greater Jakarta applying. They were required to send an essay related to youth, state and policy making processes.

The selection team, then, assed the essays based on its quality, feasibility, and originality. One hundred candidates passing this essay selection are invited to the interview stage conducted at  the Krida Bhakti building, Jakarta, from July 11 to 15.

“From the 100 candidates passing the essay selection, 35 of them will be selected to officially join the SSP program lasting from July 25 to 29,” said the KSP Senior Advisor, Agung Rulianto.
