In World Knowledge Forum, Moeldoko: Indonesia Ready to Deal With Global Uncertainty

Seoul – The Chief of Staff to the President, Dr. Moeldoko shared his thoughts about Indonesia’s strategy to face the global uncertainty in the World Knowledge Forum (WKF) held in Seoul, South Korea (13/9).

In this forum attended by experts, entrepreneurs and also government’s representative from various countries, Moeldoko stated that Indonesia had already built resilience that was beneficial during the pandemic momentum. “Indonesia is ready to counter various global uncertainties even in this political year. Because we already strengthen our system itself,” said Moeldoko during his keynote speech at the World Knowledge Forum.

In terms of resilience during pandemic era, Moeldoko explained, Indonesia implemented three main strategies. Namely, mobilization in the health sector, social assistance for society and incentives for MSME.

Meanwhile, in terms of building and exploiting opportunities after the pandemic era, he added that Indonesia implemented five strategies. First, human source development by utilizing the demographic bonus. Second, infrastructure development to strengthen connectivity to achieve cost efficiency. Third, regulatory reforms by creating Omnibus Law to encourage investment that is efficient, easy, certain that would build a fertile ecosystem for growth.

The fourth strategy, Moeldoko added about bureaucracy reforms that supports government administration more effectively, and fifth is the economic transformation, which previously depended on natural resources to become a modern economy that will add more value.

Moeldoko believes that with these strategis, Indonesia could become the fourth largest country in the world by 2045, namely towards Indonesia Emas.

At the forum, Moeldoko also stated that Indonesia have a great chance to take the opportunity to play a role in global issues. Specifically by maintaining regional peace and build regional resilience system through Indonesia’s chairmanship in ASEAN.

Apart from it, Indonesia also encourages the development of global health and equal economic cooperation through the leadership at the G20 Summit. “This is a form of strategy that is said to hijack the crisis,” Moeldoko concluded.  

The World Knowledge Forum (WKF) has been running since 2000. This forum gathers experts, entrepreneurs and government representatives from various countries to share their thoughts and learn about solutions to global problems as well as predicting the global future.
